eSIM compatible phones
Almost every phone released after 2020 supports eSIM, but carrier locked devices are the exception. Check your model below or run the 30 second test on your own phone.
Your phone supports a travel eSIM when it is eSIM capable and not carrier locked. That covers iPhone XS and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and most recent devices from Motorola, Oppo, Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, Sony and Nothing.
Test your phone in 30 seconds
- iPhone: Settings, General, About. If you see an EID number, the phone supports eSIM.
- Android: Settings, Network and internet, SIMs. An option to add an eSIM or download a SIM means it is supported.
- Any phone: dial *#06#. An EID next to the IMEI confirms eSIM support.
Carrier lock matters more than the model
A device bought on a subsidised contract can be locked to one operator, which blocks a foreign eSIM profile. Ask your operator to unlock the device, this is usually free once the contract term has ended.
Devices that do not work
- iPhone models older than iPhone XS, and iPhone SE first generation
- Most budget Android phones under 200 euro
- Regional variants sold in mainland China and some Hong Kong models
- Older tablets and laptops without a mobile modem

FAQ
Does my phone need to be unlocked?
Yes. A carrier locked device refuses profiles from other operators, including travel eSIM providers.
Can I use an eSIM on a tablet or smartwatch?
Cellular iPads and many smartwatches support eSIM, but data plans and installation steps differ per device.
Can I install one eSIM on two phones?
No. An eSIM profile can only be installed on one device. If you change phone, contact support before removing the profile.
What if the EID does not appear?
Then the device is not eSIM capable and you need a physical SIM instead.
