Which devices work with an eSIM?

Almost every recent smartphone supports eSIM, on one condition: the device must not be carrier locked.

Before ordering, check two things: does your device support eSIM, and is it unlocked?

Quick check

Open mobile network settings and see whether you can add a SIM via QR code. If the option is there, you are ready.

Broadly supported

  • iPhone XR, XS and newer
  • Google Pixel 3 and newer
  • Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, plus recent Z Flip and Z Fold
  • Many recent Motorola, Huawei, Oppo and Honor models
  • iPad with cellular, Apple Watch Cellular and many Windows laptops

Watch out for carrier lock

Devices bought on contract in some countries can be locked to one operator. A locked device refuses an external eSIM profile. Your operator can remove the lock.

Not sure?

Dial *#06#. If an EID appears next to the IMEI, your device has eSIM hardware.

Frequently asked questions
