On an Asia trip, your route decides which bundle is best value.
One country or several?
Staying in one country, say three weeks in Thailand? A country bundle is cheapest. Combining Thailand, Vietnam and Japan? A regional Asia bundle almost always beats three separate ones.
Thailand
Excellent 4G and 5G coverage, islands included. Plan on 10 GB for three weeks of normal use, more if you film and share a lot.
Japan
Very strong coverage, including metro and trains. Useful, because you will lean on maps, train apps and translation. For two weeks, 5 to 10 GB is usually enough.
Practical tips
- Install your eSIM before departure, airport wifi is not always reliable
- Download offline maps and a translation pack
- QR menus, taxi apps and tickets all need data, so do not plan too tight
